An aircraft, remarkable in that its engine was positioned behind the cockpit, driving the airscrew by a 10-foot shaft passing beneath the pilot's legs. The Airacobra - not the most famous of fighters - was particularly welcomed by the Soviet Air Force and not less than 4.773 of them were sent to Russia. That country already had new fighters in the pipeline, but not yet in the air. The Airacobra sort of filled this gap.

Het opmerkelijke aan dit vliegtuig is, dat de motor achter de cockpit is ingebouwd. De niet al te beroemde Airacobra werd enthousiast ontvangen door de Sovjet-luchtmacht en die kreeg  dan ook niet minder dan 4.773 toestellen. Rusland had al nieuwe jagers in voorbereiding, maar nog niet operationeel. De Airacobra vulde deze leemte op.
