One of the most famed American medium bombers of WW II, the aircraft that dropped the first Allied bombs on Tokyo in the "Doolittle raid" of April 18, 1942. Apart from its maximum bomb-load of 3000lbs, the Mitchell also carried a powerful punch in the shape of its heavy armament. The machine was a superb gun platform.

Eén van de beroemdste middelzware Amerikaanse bommenwerpers van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, het vliegtuig, dat de eerste geallieerde bommen op Tokio wierp in de aanval van Doolittle van 18 april 1942. Naast een maximum bommenlading van 3000lbs kon de Mitchell ook krachtige klappen uitdelen door zijn zware bewapening. Hij is te zien in het Luchtmachtmuseum in Soesterberg.
